The target

The company, founded in 1860 and made famous by the homonymous Bitter, soon established itself in Sesto San Giovanni (MI). Over the years, through numerous acquisitions, it has become one of the major multinationals in the alcohol sector. The current headquarters is a large complex designed by the famous architect Mario Botta which it envelops that of a century ago, which has become a showroom, museum and shop open to visitors. IT management wanted retail sales to go directly into their SAP ERP to avoid delays and errors.

Which aKite® subsystems we used to achieve the goal:

The results

aKite has been integrated with the SAP ERP of the Campari group by means of aDI (aKite Document Interchange), a SQL Server db on the border between the transactional one of aKite and SAP. aDI is updated in near-real-time by Store sales which become available to SAP. The most important feature for the customer was reliability in case of failure or lack of connectivity. A “cloud-native” architecture such as aKite is “by design” being based on asynchronous queues that travel on a secure channel such as “Azure Service Bus” and central services managed by a PaaS (Platform as a Service) which automatically manages any server failures.
