Holding Terra Moretti, based in the heart of Franciacorta, is active in various sectors including construction and wine production. It owns 6 renowned estates such as Bellavista and Contadi Castaldi in Franciacorta, Petra, Badiola and Teruzzi&Puthod in Tuscany and finally Sella&Mosca in Sardinia. With its 1,100 hectares, it is the fourth Italian group by extension of its own vineyards.
As evidence of the owners’ passion for the land and the wine, the production has almost completely migrated to organic and the Petra winery in the Tuscan Maremma was designed by the famous architect Mario Botta.
The points of sale in each estate were managed independently since they sell, for now, only local products. The challenge was to merge these retail businesses and integrate them with JDE, the central ERP aimed primarily at manufacturing and wholesale distribution.
aKite was chosen for its agility and configurability to the needs of the various Points of Sale, combined with centralization on the Cloud and near-real-time integration with the central ERP. Computing on the periphery is very light and reliable, given that the complexity is concentrated in the Cloud where Microsoft’s Azure PaaS (Platform as a Service) automatically manages activity peaks, failures and software updates without ever stopping the services. However, the shops are able to sell even without an Internet connection and easily activate new workstations; useful features both to immediately reactivate the activity after a failure of a local PC and on the occasion of short-term special events.
Another advantage of aKite is the presence of the back-store App, called SHOP.net, from which authorized operators can set up new promotions or loyalty criteria without intervening on the ERP and without losing centralized control over your retail business. All this was possible without the need for customizations, but simply by clicking on the central SHOP.net configurations. aKite is in fact designed for direct, franchised and mixed chains and also for easy integration with ERP and other systems such as, for example, CRM, Business Intelligence and eCommerce. In the case of Terra Moretti, the warehouse and accounting of the stores are managed by the ERP together with the other activities of the group, while the more “Retail specific” features are managed in parallel on aKite, activating an authentic synergy.
